Danica Shoan Ankele, Sensei
Danica Shoan Ankele first came to the Monastery as a junior in college and has been in full-time residential training since 2007. Before entering monastic life, Shoan taught high school English and coordinated an interdisciplinary arts & education program. She became a senior student in 2009 with Daido Roshi and took full monastic ordination with Shugen Roshi in 2015. Shoan is the Monastery’s Creative Director and Training Coordinator. She is married to Mn. Gokan Bonebakker.
