Way Seeking Mind with Chozen Roshi

During our usual Sunday Morning Program at Great Vow Zen Monastery, Chozen Roshi will be offering part one of her Way Seeking Mind Talk.

A Way Seeking Mind talk is a way to tell our life story from the perspective of our spiritual life path and its maturation. It is an offering to our community as the teller examines and shares their history from the perspective of opportunity and the cultivation of life vows.

This Way Seeking Mind Talk is special because Chozen Roshi is turning 80 on August 9th! She has lived many lives, seen many things, and had many adventures. Her life could not possibly be contained in a short talk. Nonetheless, we will get a peek at her varied experiences as she offers her past as a teaching for those of us establishing our own spiritual aspirations.

There will be stories offered and pictures to see! Ever wonder what Chozen was like in the early days of ZCLA? Or how was it for her to practice so diligently while also having a career as a pediatrician and children?  And what was it like to ordain with Maezumi Roshi? Let’s find out!

We will begin the morning with our usual Sunday Program Chanting service, followed by Zazen, and then the talk.
