Kaz will offer a short talk, a Q&A at the finish, and in between there will be a video of him teaching about the Heart Sutra. He will also do some calligraphy related to key concepts in the Heart Sutra.

Kaz Tanashashi is a renowned Eihei Dogen translator, calligrapher, and peace activist. His book The Heart Sutra : A Comprehensive Guide to the Classic of Mahayana Buddhism explains the history, translation, and teaching of the Heart Sutra.

Kaz Tanahashi, Sensei

Kazuaki Tanahashi (棚橋一晃, October 4, 1933) is an accomplished Japanese calligrapher, Zen teacher, author and translator of Buddhist texts from Japanese and Chinese to English, most notably works by Dogen (he began his translation of Shobogenzo in his twenties).
